Julia finds inspiration in interpersonal and socially relevant topics. Her analytical approach of movement locates a place of clarity & communication which is at the forefront of her artistic ambition in dancing, teaching and making dance.
Julia is a contemporary choreographer, dancer and teacher based in the Netherlands. After her bachelor degree in dance at the ArtEZ Dance Academy, she continued her development with a master in art in education and simultaneously entered the parttime study 'Choreological studies' at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London.
As a professional dancer Julia has worked with several independent choreographers as Libertad Pozo Rodriguez, Sanne van der Put and Jonne Covers. In 2016 she danced an extract of Phoenix by Noa Wertheim with Vertigo Dance Company in Israel. Thereafter she made the site-specific performance 'Matar a saudade' to reflect her experiences she has gained in Israel.
Since several years Julia works as a contemporary dance teacher at the following vocational dance programs: RijnIjssel dance artist show/urban, Aventus modern dance program and Studio26. Julia has recently started as a teacher for choreology and contemporary dance at ArtEZ Dance Vooropleiding.
Since januari 2018 Julia is part of the ECHO collective who has the mission to connect science and research with artistic manifestations, thus creating art with a rich conceptual base that goes beyond its existing contexts. This fascination has led to the latest project together with componist Stef Veldhuis:
