JULIA HEIDER — ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY

Through physical actions, guided improvisations and pesonal coaching I like to faciliate a laboratory for all participants whether for educational or performative purposes.

My choroegraphic work is rooted in a desire to explore how movement can reflect and interact with cultural, social and political contexts in which it is created and is influenced by a tradition of expressionist dance-makers such as Pina Bausch, DV8 physical theatre and post-dramatic staging structures to evoke provocative, engaged and accessible work with a sense of humour.

How meaning and experiences in contemporay staging practices are created fascinates me and has paved the way to study Contemporary Theatre, Dance and Dramaturgy at the Univsersity of Utrecht. Consequently, I am extremely driven by analysing not only artistic processes but also societal or even behavioural processes.

Apart from that I teach dynamic floorwork, improvisation, composition and dramaturgy at (pre-)educational dance programs such as ArtEZ Dance Academy, DansLAB, Vooropleiding ArtEZ and Rijnijssel Dancer Creative Contemporay/Show/Urban.
